The Walking Dead - Through Back Doors |
] |
On Wednesday Me, Joe, Aaron and Bob went out to watch the fireworks along with the rest of the city of Detroit. It was nice not having to fight for a parking spot or searching franticly for a good viewing point because we went to Jay's apartment building where they were having a fireworks party/ get together. We got our drink on a bit and sat outside the building chatting and working on our hackysack skills until it was dark and then we preceeded upstairs to the roof. There was a good amount of people up there and it was a nice viewing area we were decently close. I managed to snap a few photos off but it was pretty hard to keep it steady, so alas some blurryness but its still colourful so ah well. After the fireworks we walked around the casino area and laughed at all the people in heaps of traffic trying to leave, attempted to get in the casino because me and Joe had this genious idea of betting our wallets on black. Not that we would have won much, it just would've been funny. But luckily that idea was put on halt because of Aaron: Mr. im only 20 & I should have forced my mom into having a premature birth months earlier so I can finally buy alcohol and gamble like a proper young man. Haha but anyway we walked back to the apartment and hung outside in the nice cool air while people played guitars and sang along to enjoyable songs. All in All 'twas a great night.
On a side note I have a new icon of me for a change, I've always been weird about having me as my icon. So this would explain why this is my first, but Catterina made this one for me the other day and I actually like it, so here is my mugshot icon. Also ever since my last trip to Eastern with Dan and Nicole (which was extremely awesome once again, I love that card game) I have been addicted to watching 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' and 'The Cosby Show' especially Cosby. I totally forgot how funny and awesome these shows are and I've watched them all this week.

Taproot - Smile |
] |
Here's a small update of the happenings of the recent week, trying to stay busy and outgoing is hard on a limited budget but this week mission accomplished so to speak ;D Thursday me Bob and Paul went to the palace of auburn hills to watch game 7 of the nba finals. It was totally kick ass, about as close to a exciting playoff atmosphere you can get without actually being at the game and for $5 why the hell not. Everytime we scored the 22,000+ crowd just erupted, everyone was into it screaming and claping it was great up until the 4th quarter where we just stopped playing, I just sat there so pissed thinking about all the games they played to get to this point; to the last game of the season; 10 mins left to just fuck it all up. Ah well, as we exited the stadium an ominous chant of "BULLSHIT!" echoed through the halls. We get to the car wanting to get the hell out of there paul says something about wanting to hear something fucking heavy and flips on the cd player as he goes 'I wonder what's in here?' sure enough Nelly Furtado starts playing, ahah I thought that was pretty funny.
We throw in some Around the Fur and start flying down the highway when we smell something burning we look in the distance and see this orange glow in the sky. We get off on the next exit bored as hell, looking for this fire that will hopefully make us forget that bullshit loss. We get closer seeing more and more smoke we get to the street and park on the side and walk up to the house. There was one house allready burnt pretty much to the ground and the one next to it was also on fire, it was nuts ive never seen a house fire in person before. We watched the roof slowly cave in as flames spewed through the windows they didn't start to get it under control until the 4th firetruck arrived. I got some cool video of it but dont really feel like uploading because its like 60meg. Here is a link that bob found to the Channel 4 News site that talks about the fire, there is a small video on there.
In other news I've just been watching a shit load of movies as per usual I can't even rembember what i've watched recently. For once there is a bunch out in theatres that I really want to see, hopefully ill go check them out sometime in the coming weeks. I also finally got my autographed poster from the Furtado contest I won check that out in the photos behind the cut along with this random sunset picture I messed with that looks like the end of the world.

Anberlin - Dance Dance Christa Paffgen |
] |
It's 7am and I'm about to go to bed. I drank nearly a whole pot of coffee at about 1am and just now coming off my caffeine rush, but I had to post this download. 1st I want to thank Aaron for introducing me to this band we listened to their cd a few times driving around and I really liked it, I was reminded of it last night and decided to try to download the album, I mistakenly downloaded their newest cd instead of the one he had. But oh what a pleasant mistake it was... I listened to this album on repeat for probally 6 hours tonight and I'm still not even close to sick of it. I have no idea why this band isn't really popular or even on the radio.
Anberlin is their name and their music is great. It carries a constant flow of melodic energy without the use of generic metal riffs or annoying screamo vocals. Its in a weird sort of harmony: its a splash rockin' emo, a shot of hyperactivity a little bit pussy but it works.
Basicially... Download this fuckin' album NOW! Here: Anberlin - Never Take Friendship Personal (2005).zip [53.4MB]

Technology is so awesome...
When I was a little kid playing Nintendo I thought that was probally the best it would ever get. I never imagined that one day it would just be everyday norm to be able to simultaneously:
- Chat with a friend in realtime 4mins away while at the same time talking to another friend 22 hours away. - Send an entire music album to them through thin air - Copy and Burn a CD in less than a minute - When listening to a random playlist of over 3000 songs - AND following the basketball game live on a website detailing every play by the second. - While having the answer to almost any question in the world available at your fingertips in an instant - With the ability to download nearly ever song ever recorded, any movie ever released and any television show ever aired for free. We have it sooo good.
From the first version of windows "Windows 1.0" in 1985. To the latest upcoming version of windows "Longhorn" in 2005.
Only 20 years and look how much as been accomplished. Just think 20 years from now, we will only be 40 and and all the amazing things we have now will seem like nothing but nintendo or worse. Not that there is anything wrong with good ol' nintendo :D

| Times they will be a changing... |
[07 May 2005|11:14pm] |

It's hard to believe its been almost a year(10 months) that I havent had a job, well thats not counting the few short jobs i've had inbetween, but they were just part time and stupid. I need to have a real job again, this is just not me. I'm not sure exactly what happened, I think the first month was me just being upset about the whole situation, then after listening to a few people about how I should just enjoy this time while I could because chances are I'll probally be working full time the majority of my life and wont have free time like this anytime soon. So I had fun, went on vacations, hungout constantly, careful with my spending but at the same time not so careful. After awhile you just get comfortable with a certain situation. I've had a few close calls with jobs or interviews but it never really worked out, truthfully I was probally only putting in like 23% of me into trying to find something and I WAS content with that, atleast that was my mindset last night as the clock clicked over to 12:00am and ended another day.
( And with 12:01am Morning came... )

| 'America is going down' |
[24 Apr 2005|09:38am] |
Tuesday was 84°F / 29°C the hottest day of the year so far and four days later its 25°F / -3°C and snowing, INSANE!
The Detroit Skyline webcam:

Me: earlier the week it was the hottest day of the year and tomorrow its supposed to snow, bah! Catherine: ahahaha Catherine: thats so cool Catherine: america is going DOWN
What if it's true though? I had a less than sober conversation with cousin Andy about how all the insects and bees ect. came out for the summer when it was really hot earlier in the week, and now that its snowing what if they all die and now and this summer there will be barely any bees or mosquitoes and then the ECO system crashes and we all die. haha. the morbid thought train always there to rescue me. choo choo. all aboard.
"We're going up, we're goin' down We're goin' up, down down up Any way you wanna let it roll..."
I really can't think of a better song lyric to describe Michigan weather.
wikipedia.org: "...Mosquitoes have been around for 170 million years."
well maybe a little michigan snow wont knock em out, but it was a nice thought.
Why do I always waste my time on these pointless entries? I'd like to do a semi-serious update soon. maybe. things have been going on... music changes, movies, thoughts on life, experiences. Many are mostly internal and mostly caused by too much time to think. On the external, I think I seem my normal self... I hope so anyway.

Music was cool they had an Irish guy playing Acoustic guitar singing awesome songs. Everyone was pounding their fists/glasses to the song, singing along. It was almost something out of a movie, well enjoy the pics AYE!
